Many people imagine snow in their wedding pictures and beautiful poinsettias! But it takes a brave woman to plan their wedding in the fall and winter seasons. You are not guaranteed a beautiful day! It could be a rainy drury autumn day or it could be on the same day of the biggest blizzard of the year! It is a risk you take and I have no tips on how to not be crushed on your big day if it's a gray icky yucky day, other than to not get your hopes up and to wish for the most perfect day ever!
I recommend finding a town that is used to seeing high amounts of snow if you want a winter wedding. That way, the workers don't call in because there is 5 inches of snow on the ground and they aren't used to driving in "such conditions." Find an intimate venue that has a homey, warm, seasonal feeling and one with an amazing opportunity for picture possibilities. I used to work at a conference center in college and we would deck the place out! We created ice skating rinks for corners of the lobby and decorated a crazy amount of Christmas trees! We provided more decorations than normal because it was the holidays. Be sure to ask if your venue is going to decorate for the autumn or winter seasons because it could drastically cut back on YOUR decorations budget. Wherever you can save, do it.
I have been getting coupon after coupon from Joann Fabrics and Michael's for harvest items at 50% off and they are already discounting Christmas ribbon by 50% to get it off their shelves in time for Valentine's decor. Stock up on that this season if you are planning on a harvest or winter wedding next year. Take advantage of end of the season deals and Black Friday. Stores discount their seasonal decorations like mad and this can save you a bundle! This is the time I stock up on white Christmas lights. You can never have enough. They can light up the underside of a tablecloth, the fireplace in your venue, doorways, or they can go under your fluff tablecloths on your cake table or head table. $1.99 a strand is the cheapest decoration you can find AND the best thing about it, you can use them next year on your house! Who can argue with that?!
Good luck with the planning ladies!!! Happy Holidays!!!

My First Hindu Wedding Experience at The Summit in Aurora, Colorado
Working with Gathering Light Photography helping market the amazing business Meghan has, has been a blast so far! I am able to sink my teeth into another industry that I need to know more about and gaining experience at the same time. Last night, I helped set up a photo booth! I am never outside of the reception once it starts, and Meghan, as the photographer, is. She is taking photos of the family, setting up extras, i.e., the photobooth and making sure the lights will be perfect or suitable for certain shots. I;m usually running around making sure everyone has forks or napkins at each setting and ensuring catering is on top of their game and that the bride and groom are blocked from view of the reception until their grand entrance.
Last night, Meghan invited me to the Hindu wedding she was shooting at The Summit, located in Aurora, CO. I loved it! It was sooooo beautiful! I had a grasp on the ceremony, even though they were speaking in another language. It was amazingly unique and so detailed! The blessings of certain foods made me very interested in researching more about their culture and why they bless the certain foods that they do. The hiding of the bride and grooms shoes was very entertaining! The groom had to pay the bridesmaids all of his money before they revealed where they hid the shoes before the bride and groom could leave the ceremony site. The bridesmaids were American and they jumped right in on the traditions and the ceremony. It was truly beautiful. I loved being part of the photography crew, even though I wasn't taking photos, I was associated with them and it was a different take on a wedding for sure. I really enjoyed it and can't thank Meghan enough for giving me the opportunity you have.

Last Minute Details
I am so excited for the next wedding on my calendar! Will and Candice are such a wonderful couple and I can't wait for the pre-wedding festivities to start! I have one more day to nail down details, do as many sit-ups as one person can possibly handle and to help her with what she needs done.
Planning a wedding out of state can be kind of crazy. I think Candice will agree with that statement. You don't have the control you have when you are in the state and can't just drive over and yell at the florist for not capturing your vision correctly, you have to convey your anger through an email or over the phone on your lunch break.
I have to give props to my girl! I have helped her with her bouquets and her card box, and I have helped her nail some details down while in CO together, but she has nailed down many nails here in MI while in Aspen. Now it's the bridesmaids and whoever else is willing to help, turn in grabbing that hammer from Candy and telling her to breathe.
She looks amazing, her husband to be looks stunning and she made it here from Colorado in one piece. Now it's just letting it roll! The cake is under control thanks to her brother, the bridesmaid dresses fit which is a plus! No alterations needed, so no one will be hoping their dress is finished at the alterations shop before the wedding and we (the bridal party) are all in contact.
Months of planning and stressing paid off and we have all met in the same state, we are all ready to help and drive wherever needed and we are anxiously awaiting the main event and the events leading up to it.
The limo is booked, bacheloretty party is ready to rock and roll and everyone is working on their rockin' 80's costumes for the 80's themed bachelorette party!
I am so excited and so happy for Candy and Will to be saying "I do" and I just want her to know that no matter what may go astray on your big day, the main focus is you and Will and that you two just said your vows. I promise you Candy, that I will do everything in my power to help your day go as planned and as you saw it in your head! Congrats girl and let's get this show on the road!

Congratulations to Danny and Kat!!! 10.1.11
Cheers to the most amazingly cutest couple! I was so honored to be a part of their big day and decided I'd blog about phenomenal their wedding was.
Dan and Kat have been an inspiration to me since they met. Danny was so star struck when he met Kat and Kat has always had that look in her eye whenever I was around them. They are made for each other and I am so glad I witnessed their relationship go from the start to the wedding!
I remember when Danny told me he was proposing! I was home for a visit and he told me and I started to tear up. I jumped up and hugged him in such an emotional whirl! I was so excited he was going to pop the question. I was waiting for a text on the day he said he was going to do it and I was out with my bestie, Laura when I got it. I screamed in the middle of a crowded location and ran out to hear the details when he called me to tell me he said yes. I was so excited!!!
Kat's dress was to die for and the bridal party looked fantastic! I couldn't stop taking pictures of Kat's dress while she was at the alter exchanging her vows. Danny was speechless when he saw her and so was everyone else.
The wedding was picture perfect and the photographer who did their engagement session was phenomenal! I can't wait to see their wedding photos she did!
I wish Danny and Kat the best and wish them many happy years together! Here here to Danny and Kat!!! Congrats you two!

Harvest Time!!
It's that time of year again! I love this time of the year! Fall colors are back, pumpkin spice scents are all around and harvest weddings are abundant!
I get so much inspiration from these fall weddings! The colors never change because the season is always decked in the same colors, but every bride takes a different view on Fall weddings! It could be that she wants candied apples at every table, she could want halloween costumes to be the theme or she could just want fall leaves all over the place and the scents of fall all around the venue! No matter what it may be, each fall, new great ideas come out and are placed in bride's or future bride's memories to make a little better at their wedding or to inspire new ideas!
My residence is fall colors and it's a warm feeling that greets you each and everytime you walk in! I love fall colors in weddings because not only are there amazingly happy vibes from every guest, the colors make you even happier and more relaxed. You just want to sit back and soak in the ambiance!
Congratulations to the brides who are just now getting engaged and planning their weddings for next year. Whether it be a harvest wedding or a spring wedding, each wedding is unique and special and I cannot wait to help you plan it! Happy Harvest!

The Break I Have Been Waiting For!
I am so excited! I am going to be helping one of the most amazing photographers out! I am going to be doing social media networking for Meghan, Owner of Gathering Light Photography!
I have been trying to get my foot in the door of sales and marketing and here is the door and it's opened! I love it! I cannot wait to help promote her business and organize it, network it and most importantly-work with her! I am so excited that she reached out to me and I can't wait to start!
To add to the happiness, I got a call from a bride and she paid me the biggest compliment! She said she had heard great things about two of her friend's weddings that I have done and she wanted me as her day of coordinator. I was soooo honored to hear such a thing and I can't believe that word of mouth really works! I heard it was the best advertising, but I have received two wedding jobs from the very first wedding I ever did as Four Seasons Wedding Planning, LLC!
Things are on their way up I hope and I can't wait until next year. I am so ready to grab it by the horns and take on the world of weddings!
